Abyssinian Flight Services is pleased to announce the successful launch of its specialized charter flights to Guba, the site of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), beginning September 25, 2025. This milestone service offers both Ethiopians and international visitors a unique opportunity to witness firsthand one of the most transformative infrastructure projects in the nation’s history.
To date, Abyssinian has completed five dedicated flights, transporting several passengers, including proud Ethiopians from within the country as well as members of the Ethiopian diaspora from the United States, the United Kingdom, and other parts of the world. The journey typically takes approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours each way, followed by an immersive five-hour guided tour covering the main sites — including the saddle dam, turbine units, and the expansive man-made reservoir.
